How to input feet and inches in AutoCAD

Drawing’s set to ‘FEET INCHES’

(the base unit is inches). Below are examples of lengths to be entered in AutoCAD, and how to enter them at the command line.
Sample Length Command Entry 1:
Feet Inches
Command Entry 2:
Inches
Command Entry 3:
Decimal Inches
Command Entry 4:
Decimal Feet
1/8″ 1/8 1/8 0.125 0.0104′
6″ 6 6 6.0 0.5′
1′-0″ 1′ 12 12.0 1.0′
1′-6″ 1’6 18 18.0 1.5′
1′-6 1/2″ 1’6-1/2 18-1/2 18.5 1.5417′

Drawing’s set to ‘DECIMAL FEET’

(the base unit is feet) DECIMAL FEET can be used by the civil discipline. Below are examples of lengths to be entered in AutoCAD, and how to enter them at the command line.
Sample Length Command Entry:
1/8″ 0.0104
6″ 0.5
1′-0″ 1
1′-6″ 1.5
1′-6 1/2″ 1.5417
1.5 feet 1.5

Yes that is right, you will have to convert the ‘feet inch’ lengths to decimals of a foot.
