Metric Imperial Conversion – Length

July 29, 2019

Last updated July 29, 2026

Metric length units converted to imperial length units, and back again. Multiply the FROM value by the factor to get the TO value.

The inch is defined as exactly 25.4 mm, under the 1959 international yard and pound agreement. That makes the foot exactly 0.3048 m, the yard exactly 0.9144 m and the mile exactly 1.609344 km. The factors going the other way are those exact values inverted and rounded, which is why they never look as tidy.
